AND THEN THERE WERE THE SOUND OF BIRDS
during the course of the project initiated by matt choboter, we brought together a group of artists willing to meet in a creative process between disciplines. the work and choreographic contributions were the result of several months of rehearsals between the composer and the musicians and dancers, who together found the language of dreaming figures, the symbolism of the expression of birds, and the mourning of the lost. the artists initiated a “choreography of process” in both live and remote meetings, which allowed for an embodied analysis of the musical piece. the choreography of process supported subsequent meetings where we explored sound, movement and image both in buildings thematically related to the piece (active and inactive church buildings in denmark and austria) and in open urban space (denmark, slovenia) to reach the Danish island of bornholm, where further explorations took place under the camera's eye exploring cliff areas and caves.
