MIS S PRESENCE

although nowadays there is still a belief that how much you can be seen so much you are both in the artistic and scientific world, not to mention the world of pop culture etc. i, on the other hand, was interested in niches, people who are invisible, hidden in the structures of society due to power narratives. hence, i took the academic path, which allows for deeper research. this led me to undertake experimental projects, often described as abstract, although to my mind these are precisely the interstices that can be visited and thus made visible.

just as according to the article “the body is not an instrument,” which i was accustomed to during my years as a dancer today, i see movement as part of social choreography, “minorities who educate the majority” is of great interest to me, which puts me largely in the position of carrying out group processes rather than mapping my individual path. the body is therefore a place of integration, but also of resistance, depending on the context in which it is located.

this is also how i perceive the projects related to my activity during my master's studies. the production that was created as part of them with the title “mis(s)presence” is a woman's cry and response to perceived deficiencies, it is also a spirit of absence and a dream of giving voice to someone who does not have it or who is physically absent.

by stepping into the interstices of an environment that was new to me, i decided to continue working with performance, which supported the writing of my master's thesis which eventually took the theme “practising ghostly matters.”

“mis(s)presence” description:

dancing with absent. picking up what is left.
feeling connected. what cannot be expressed will be shared.

pieces of plucked memory, enchanted by what has not been listened to.

tremors and snares give sound to the bones floating in the body. the trials undertaken, the games played, the militaries and the carnival mentioned.

under the cover of a net that no one uses, plastic that no one wants, the presence of those who are not here. we will structure a space to deconstruct it together.

the project is a participatory, performative response to current research being shared and deepened with a friend and participant.
