MOVE ME
“move me” was the first production on the borderline of film and choreography made through collaboration with the pandemic community. the dancers worked on the material during several months of regular meetings at the dance studio. the work culminated in a premiere at the rotary community center in jazdów, warsaw, to be continued with screenings at cafe “4 PoKoJe” (4 rooms) accompanied by an exhibition of photographs by maja łyczkowska. the event was accompanied by a multimedia walk of the ‘moved’ in the form of a field play.
the film was shown during festivals in poland and abroad (spain, belgium, united states) receiving several competition nominations.
the film was made on the basis of a six-month series of classes held at the contemporary dance studio in 2021. the classes were held regularly at the oddaj ciężar studio on brzeska street. the collected materials created both by the instructor, paulina rewucka, and the participants of the classes, whom we see in the photos today, we decided to document together. public demonstrations or other gatherings were out of the question - so we decided on a visual form in the form of photographs and a film based on the experience of the body in motion. filip twardowski, who got to know the group of people involved in the activity in advance, operated the film, as did the author of the photos seen here. we had an idea. thanks to the prevailing community atmosphere of the group, we were
able to realize the film in june 2021. the work was completed by filip szawarski giving the final shape to the film, which we called choreographic. through the practice of dance, we were able to experience together this difficult period of winter sealed by the pandemic.
